Marina is the longest serving member of the NRL staff. After graduating from La Trobe University with a Bachelor of Science majoring in microbiology and genetics in 1984. Marina began her career at VIDRL. Marina has been with the NRL since 1986. Marina coordinates the Australian diagnostic Serology Quality Control (QC) Programme. She also coordinates the shipment of the QC samples for the Diagnostic Serology QC Programmme. and is also the coordinator of the Monitoring Programme, which consists of the Serology Screening Information and the Serology Specificity Monitoring Programmes. Marina is a member of the Performance, Evaluation and Monitoring of Serology Team (PEMS) and is a supportive member of the Tertiary Reference Team (TRT).
In her spare time, Marina enjoys spending time with her husband and two teenage children, walking, gardening, and watching DVD's and crafts such as sewing, cross-stitch and bead weaving. She also enjoys listening to music by the Rolling Stones.
