Kim completed her BSc. (Hons.) in Biochemistry and Microbiology at Victoria University in 1995. Kim then began working at CSIRO's Division of Biomolecular Engineering on the expression of recombinant collagen in yeast. Moving within CSIRO, in 1998 Kim joined the Receptor Structure and Function Group where she was involved in the construction and expression in mammalian systems of insulin-like growth factors and their related receptors.
Kim joined the NRL as part of the research team in 2002. Her role is to express and purify HIV-1 proteins to be used in diagnostic testing. Kim is also the Safety Officer at the NRL.
Kim enjoys antique restoration, bushwalking, cycling, spending time with her two dogs and planting trees on her property.
