Alicia completed a Bachelor of Biomedical Science at Deakin University in 2002. In 2003, she completed her Honours degree at the Burnet Institute, studying the development of neutralising antibody responses in acutely HIV-1 infected individuals undergoing structured treatment interruptions. During her Honours year, Alicia presented her work at the 15th annual ASHM meeting in Cairns and the 2nd annual Australian Society for Microbiology meeting at Fraser Island. Upon completion of her honours year, Alicia was awarded an APA scholarship through Monash University, and commenced her PhD at the National Serology Reference Laboratory, investigating fitness and evolution of the HIV-1 virus in conjunction with ongoing neutralisation studies.

When not in the lab Alicia works part time at Mt Buller as a ski instructor, adores shopping and various other leisurely pursuits.
