Tamara graduated from La Trobe University in 1997 with a Bachelor of Biological Science majoring in Microbiology and Genetics.

After taking some time off to travel Tamara started her scientific career at the Health Protection Agency in London within the Sexually Transmitted and Blood Borne Virus Laboratory. Here, she worked in the serology department for five years performing routine testing and developing EIA's to detect antibodies in dried blood spot and oral fluid specimens.

Tamara joined the NRL in 2007 as a scientist within the Tertiary Reference Testing team.

Tamara enjoys netball, tennis, bushwalking, travelling and reading.
